Wake up bright and early to meet Te Puia’s resident Kiwi at 7.30am for their monthly health check. A once in a lifetime opportunity!

See first-hand how our keepers take care of these precious birds and learn about the plight of their whanau (family) out in the wild.

After the health check you will join a guided tour to explore the geothermal wonderland that is Te Puia. The Tour will depart at 9am.

At 10.15am you can put your feet up and take a trip back in time to experience a cultural performance like no other.

Enjoy a delicious traditional hangi for lunch at our dining area Whakaruruhau.
The end of your meal marks the end of the day’s adventures. Feel free to wonder around at your own leisure.

This auction is for 2 adults & 2 children

Te Puia spans 70 hectares within the historic Te Whakarewarewa Valley. We are home to the world famous Pohutu geyser, to mud pools, hot springs, to silica formations to the Kiwi bird and the national schools of wood carving, weaving, stone and bone carving. We have shared these treasures with manuhiri (visitors) for 170 years and proudly continue that legacy today.

Participants will need to know how to stay quiet and whisper :-)
A photo opportunity next to the keeper holding the Kiwi is very likely to arise. Photos will be taken by a Te Puia staff member and emailed to the auction winner.

October is Save Kiwi Month and all New Zealanders are urged to join the fight to save our national icon. The Great Kiwi Morning Tea returns on the 27th of October and this year is bigger and better than ever! To celebrate the release of Kuwi’s Kitchen for this year’s Save Kiwi Month, Kiwis for kiwi ambassador Kat Merewether has created some amazing Kuwi the kiwi themed recipes. Kiwis for kiwi are calling for everyone to get together at school, with friends, family or at work to share a Kiwi morning tea and collect donations. People wanting to host a morning tea can register at www.kiwisforkiwi.org. Every $100 raised is enough to protect a kiwi for an entire year. Please read the questions and answers for this listing.
