Imagine levitating over the forest, resting on your back and contemplating the blue sky contrasting against the lush green leaves of the trees surrounding you.
We invite you to experience a different side of the Pupu Rangi Nature Sanctuary by staying two nights during in one of our tree tents. Set-up in secluded clearings, our comfortable tree tents bring you as close to nature as you can get. Nestled in the trees, you can defy gravity and examine closer the hundreds of varieties of moss, the stick insects, and the busy birds. In the evening, while listening for the haunting calls of the kiwi, fall asleep to the sounds of the forest. Wake up in the midst of the dawn chorus and have the whole day ahead of you to explore the trails in our jungle-like forest, to participate in one of the conservation activities, to visit the nearby Kauri Coast attractions, or to just pick up a book and spend a relaxing time rocking gently in the breeze.
The auction is for a two night stay during the week-end (Friday and Saturday night or Saturday and Sunday night). The check-in time is 4pm and the checkout time is 10am. All meals are included. Participants must have their own transport to reach the sanctuary (3 ½ hours north of Auckland). For more information please see www.pupurangi.com/treetent.html
The Pupu Rangi Nature Sanctuary is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the protection of Northland’s native flora and fauna. Our goal is to protect and extend a vibrant ecosystem while educating others on the importance of conservation. We view ourselves as partners with our volunteers, visitors, community, and the environment.
The participants must be comfortable sleeping suspended 2m above the ground. This is very similar to a camping experience, the toilet and shower facilities are outdoors. For safety reasons, this experience will be cancelled and re-scheduled in the event of stormy weather.
This auction is part of Kiwis for kiwi national campaign - Save Kiwi Month.
