The fate of our fauna’s fledglings is yours to fight for! It’s a fretful time in the forest as Ferret season closes in. February marks the first sign of this ferocious, feisty, fowler leaving its family den to forage for food in the forest. Help us raise funds to foreclose on these furtive, furry ferrets before they fully fledge foul-play on our forest friends! There will be a flurry of further fantastic experiences for your family to bid on over the coming weeks - first in the flight is: Kiwi Release Experience Join a Pukaha kiwi ranger on a magical day where you will head out on a wilderness trek in the Pukaha forest to release a kiwi into the wild. This kiwi, Turua was Manukura’s (Our rare white kiwi) aviary mate. He is heading out to the wild as his arranged marriage with Manukura was not to his liking. It is time for him to find true LOVE in the wild!
This experience is not for the faint hearted as it does involve some bush trekking, but the effort will be well worth it! The opportunity to release a national taonga to it’s natural habitat. From a pre-release health check to it’s final farewell you will be a part of this special experience.

Conditions: Must have a good level of fitness, suitable clothing and footwear required, the ability to keep quiet as requested (shhhhhhh….) , dates may vary so flexibility is needed - weather dependent activity, a maximum of 3 people may attend the release.
