Rebuild Christchurch Foundation: The Rebuild Christchurch Foundation is about positive action and engagement bringing together the communities of Christchurch and Canterbury and New Zealand, to bring about a stronger and sustainable future following the 2010-11 Earthquakes. The Foundation provides and engine to deliver tangible, “on the ground” assistance, supporting Christchurch communities in practical ways so that we may rebuild our lives effectively and positively long into the future. Project Christmas: Launched in 2011 Project Christmas was in response to the deteriorating financial position of many of the residents of Christchurch due to the Earthquakes. Through no fault of their own many families were struggling to find themselves in a position to provide a Christmas for their family. Christmas is a family time and we wanted to make sure those families were not going to miss out. We worked alongside other social agencies within Christchurch to ensure we were targeting the people who do not normally get the help or that normally wouldn’t ask. This proved successful and we were able to help 76 families last year. This year in 2012 we are looking to help 300 families. We have been actively fundraising but we still have a way to go. The auctions here will provide a way to ensure we raise enough money so we can successfully support our communities in this initiative again. 2012 has again been a tough year and many people are finding themselves in even tougher conditions they were last year so it is important to let these people know we still care.
