In 1905, three children, Roberta, Phyllis and peter find that their lives change completely when their father Michael Kitchen, is escorted away to london by two mysterious gentlemen. Their possessions are sold and their mother takes them away to live in the country.
With no money and no servants, the children learn to fent for themselves.
