In 2006, Opera Australia celebrates fifty years of opera in Australia, fifty years of music, emotion, showmanship and sheer bravery. Our special guest of honour is Dame Joan Sutherland - opera's best loved leading lady - who also celebrates a significant birthday when she turns 80 in 2006.

Conducted by Richard Hickox, this concert features some of opera's greatest moments from Handel through to the present day and honours the extraordinary artists who have contributed so much to opera in this country. Expect streamers, flowers and... a big surprise.
