Rick Deckard (Harrison Ford) walks and flies through the streets of futuristic techno-jungle 21st-century Los Angeles. He's a 'blade runner': a government employee who chases genetically produced human-like 'replicants'. Created to make life easier for humanity, some replicants have been judged to be criminals. Their crime: wanting to be as human as you and I. Deckard's job is simply to kill them, no questions asked.
The story of Blade Runner is familiar to countless fans of Philip K. Dick's science-fiction novels and the original film adaptation. However, this version is very different, as director Ridley Scott puts even more of his own unique vision into the sci-fi classic. This new version removes Deckard's voiceover narration, develops the romance between Deckard and Rachael (Sean Young), and totally changes the previous 'uplifting' ending. The result is a film with even more emotional impact, taking a great film to an even higher level. The most interesting and mysterious new inclusion is a vision of a unicorn, which suggests that Deckard himself may not be of the natural world. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?
