| When his family is persecuted by a ruthless agent of the Inquisition, young aristocrat Pedro De Vargas (Power) flees his native Spain and joins an expedition to the New World led by Hernando Cortez (Romero). Pedro gets more the than he bargains for however, when he falls in love with the peasant girl Catana (Jean Peters) and discovers that Cortez plans to conquer the Aztec Empire with only a handful of men!
