The Race For Space began in 12th
century China. In 1961, the Soviet Union put the worlds first man in space, Cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin. He was followed only weeks later by American Astronaut Alan Shepard. In 1965, the Soviet Union again scored a first when Cosmonaut Leorov became the first man to walk in space, beating American Astronaut Edward White by only a few weeks. But America achieved the Ultimate Goal when on the 20th July 1969 at 4.10pm EDT, Apollo 11 touched down on the Moons surface, with the historic statement heard live all over the World, The Eagle has landed. Five hours later, Astronaut Neil Armstrong took the historic step onto the Moons surface, to become the first man on the moon. The film captures the developments and breakthroughs that led up to the most historic event this century One Small Step For Man, One Giant Leap For Mankind. |
