Epic Cycle Adventures: shuttle, bike hire & glamping

Epic Cycle Adventures (ECA) operates a shuttle, bike hire, and accommodation business on the Timber Trail in the Pureora Forest Park, Central North Island. One of NZ’s 23 Great Rides, it is widely regarded as the best two-day ride in NZ and is likely one of the best rides in the world. ECA has two complementary and interdependent components – a shuttle and bike hire business, and an accommodation business – Camp Epic. These two components are offered for sale as one Going Concern Business. This is the first time this well-regarded business has been offered for sale.

Epic Cycle Adventures has built a strong brand image and robust company since its inception in 2013 and is the leading shuttle and bike hire company servicing this area. Camp Epic is an extension of this offer providing a well-appointed and luxurious glamping/camping experience.

The Timber Trail Great Ride is a linear ride through a national forest park with the start and finish point 82km apart. Vehicle access to the ride is limited to the start in Pureora, the mid-point through Waimiha to PiroPiro and at the end in Ongarue. The Timber Trail is part of the Te Araroa Trail.

The shuttle business operates from a site at Bennett Rd carpark in Ongarue – the end of the Timber Trail. Every person who rides the Trail comes through this site.

Camp Epic is a 34-bed glamping accommodation on the Timber Trail. The camp is situated exactly halfway which makes it a perfect stopover along the Timber Trail. Camp Epic is the flagship activity of Epic Cycle Adventures. ECA holds two Department of Conservation (DoC) Concessions for Camping (20 years term/finishes Jan 2037) and Transport (10 year term/finishes December 2033).
