Pay Now update - December 2013

Back in July we rolled out a new one-step process for buyers on multiple-quantity listings (MQLs) that offer Pay Now as one of the payment methods. We've now updated this for all listings that have Buy Now as a purchase option, so it's quicker for buyer and seller, and there are fewer emails; the buyer now uses just one purchase screen for shipping options, delivery details and payment type, and there is just one confirmation email for both buyers and sellers.

Buyers and sellers of these items are keen to cut to the chase and finalise the purchase - so it makes sense for buyers and sellers to confirm the purchase in one easy step. Sellers get paid quicker; buyers receive their goods quicker - less waiting around for everybody!

Purchase & payment is now a one-step process

The purchase confirmation page has been updated so that buyers purchasing on the desktop site now enter their shipping, delivery, phone number and payment details all in one quick and easy step.

As a result, the main changes to payment via Pay Now are:

  1. Streamlined buying & paying process. Buyers now purchase and pay for an item in one step using an all-in-one form (see example). When buyers choose Pay Now and use a credit or debit card as the payment method, there will be no need for extra steps.

  2. Mandatory delivery details. The new streamlined process requires buyers who have selected delivery to provide their delivery details at the time of payment. There is no longer an option to provide delivery details at a later stage.
  3. Faster payment = faster dispatch. When buyers choose Pay Now and use a credit or debit card, purchase confirmations to sellers will now all come through with payment confirmed and delivery address supplied in one email; meaning the item can be dispatched straight away.

Note - when buyers choose to pay using another method, delivery details will be sent up front. The only thing buyers and sellers need to arrange is payment.
