It’s now 2024, and Oceana Gold want to tear up more of the pristine Coromandel to rip out gold from underground and ship it offshore.

This is a very special part of our motu. Mining it could poison the water, it could kill off a taonga species, and it will transform a rainforest into an industrial wasteland. Holidaymakers, and local people do not want heavy industry on their doorstep. The only people who want this mine are the shareholders of Oceana Gold.
