Self Lubricating Bushing/Bearings - 6mm 8mm 10mm or 12mm ID

This listing is for a pack of two "self lubricating" bearing / sleeve / bushing / whatchmacallit (often termed "SF-1 bearings")

You choose which pack you want, I have the following packs available

• 2pcs 10mm ID x 20mm Long (SF-1-1020); or
• 2pcs 10mm ID x 15mm Long (SF-1-1015); or
• 2pcs 12mm ID x 15mm Long (SF-1-1215); or
• 2pcs 8mm ID x 15mm Long (SF-1-0815); or
• 2pcs 6mm ID x 15mm Long (SF-1-0615)

The outer diameter of each bushing is 2mm larger than the inner diameter (eg, 10mm ID = 12mm OD)

I understand these are a composite construction bearing made from a combination of PFTE (better known as Teflon), Lead, Bronze, Steel and a copper plating, not being a metalurgist and these coming from china though, who really knows.

The construction gives the property of "self lubrication" that is the bearing does not need oil in theory.

These simple sleeve type bearings are a cheap, quiet alternative to more expensive (and bulky, maintenance prone) linear bearings and also won't score unhardened shafts like ball bearings will.

Here's a fun fact for you, multi function printers are virtually thrown away by people (just look at all the ones that sell for a dollar here) when they upgrade, but if you take 30 minutes to pull them apart you will find a multitude of nice stainless steel shafts in them (and motors, gears, wheels, various electronics, even a pump for the ink which you could repurpose...). The scanners on such printers often run on 6mm shafts, and there are a usually 8mm and/or 10mm shafts in the printer's paper feed path.

So get yourself an old printer, rip it to bits (violently if you like, Office Space style) and pull out those shafts to use in your next crazy project - you'll probably want some of these bearings!
