Mazda 323 GLX 1983
Description
*** Since it was listed The Brown has obtained a new WOF which expires Feb 2011)***
The day we were dreading has finally arrived. It's time to say good-bye to The Brown.
She's part of the family; in fact she's exactly the same age as our eldest son. We bought her off old Mr Clark 'cos he couldn't drive anymore. He bought her new, so we're just the second owner.
Truly The Brown is a car like no other. The 3 boys learned to drive in her. Youngest son describes her colour as like sunset on a warm summer's day and middle son tells me on a date the interior is the first thing girls talk about to break the ice. The Brown has seen all three boys first kiss. In fact they tell me they've all had 100% success with the ladies in The Brown, whatever that means. Eldest son says he used her for pizza deliveries for a while, and if you close your eyes real hard and sniff the front seat you can just pick up the faint aroma of Meatlovers with BBQ sauce.
So, now is the time for The Brown to join another family of teenagers eager to live life on the edge with the coolest car in town.
The Brown is truly one of the most reliable cars we've ever owned. The mileage is correct. The E5 engine is bullet proof and runs as well as it ever did. Two of the tyres are near new and we have receipts for work done. The body is OK but, as you'd expect, there's some rust (most of it has been repaired), the tail-light is damaged, and she could use a good cut and polish.
The carpet is original and still has plenty of life left. The rest of the interior is really in exceptional condition for her age. Sure there's some fading and discolouration, but no rips or tears, and she's roomy as. Middle son still talks about the trip to Nelson with two mates and a chest of drawers in the back.
The boys would prefer we didn't sell her, but they've left home now, so she doesn't get used and there's just no room in the garage.
The Brown is registered until Dec 2010.
