International m14 1942
Description
This is a very rare opportunity to obtain an incredible piece of WWII military hardware in beautiful condition. This M14 International Half-Track has been a much admired exhibit at various South Island shows where it has been operated, including Warbirds over Wanaka. The speedo reading of only 1372 miles is believed to be genuine mileage from new.
The International Red Diamond 450 c.i.d. o.h.v. petrol engine starts on the button and runs like a Swiss watch. It produces a most impressive note out the side exhaust when under power. The motor is standard and in excellent condition.
Clutch and drive train are all in excellent condition.
Tracks are the originals and are getting worn with some cracking but still have a lot of miles in them. I have a new set of unused tracks still on the packing pallet - THESE ARE NOT PART OF THE AUCTION BUT WILL BE OFFERED TO THE SUCCESSFUL BIDDER FOR $5000 (cost)
For normal driving front axle engagement is not necessary with steering, handling and maneuverability similar to a similar size tandem truck.
Tulsa 3 speed 10,000 lb winch is P.T.O driven and all in working condition with good cable (only a minority of half-tracks are fitted with a winch).
This is a very authentic looking half-track with a wonderful patina having the flat paint finish, canvas seat covers, full pioneer tool set, camo net, original tool box, canvas winch cover, radio set with canvas cover and antenna base, rifle holders, commanders compass, driving lights and black out lights plus various storage lockers.
Performance and driving experience is outstanding with top speed of 42 m.p.h. and awesome acceleration for its weight of approx 8 M/T. Due to its rubber tracks it is very quiet when in motion for a tracked vehicle. It is registered and legal for road use.
There is a small selection of spares which go with the vehicle.
