Toyota Townace Boatace 1990
Description
"Roofliss" the Toyota Townace Interisland Van
We've just crossed Cook Strait in this van and we're onto the next mean as project. You won't get much cooler than this sweet deal. Two litre, big turbo, 85 raging horsepower from factory and the ability to cruise round the Viaduct pickin up skanks. This van is so rad, it once got a girl pregnant just from looking at it.
The front wheels drive it on land while the prop drives it at a break-neck 5 knots in the water (where it'll be the only van you can't get done D.I.C in). Still has heaps of tread left on the tyres. Good for slimy boatramps.
Has onboard 240v supply. Massive sunroof, waterproof, bilge pump, great sound system with positionable speakers on real long cables. Great towing capacity, probably up to a three ton floating caravan. Not quite able to waterski behind it though. Good for a spot of fishing. Marlins practically jump onboard, with the groupies.
It's real stable on the water and handles like a dream. May need a new prop after a small incident while motoring 8 miles off Mana Island. Still goes fine though.
Will swap for all sorts of stuff except Sealegs (which aren't proper amphibious cars really are they? Just an expensive dinghy.) (or a Gibbs Aquada although they'd look better with a super sick bodykit and a big bore) Won't swap for any DX wagons on chromes.
The van's currently in Auckland, and will be doing the rounds.
Will be sold with a few litres of Diesel, my flash Pioneer amp, maybe a few Tuis and some gas. Come's with a floating keyring. Woohoo! Whoever buys it will be taken out for a quick lesson on the handling characteristics of Vanboating.
Thanks to our sponsors Lees Boatbuilders, Greenacres, Tui, Le Cafe and to Ted Church from the marine brokers in Picton. Cheers also to Jimma Dylan and his mate who lent us their boats for support. There's others that helped us out.
