Ride The 170 mph John Player Norton
Description
This is it - the big one.
You are bidding on a once in a lifetime chance to ride a JPNorton 750cc Commando at the Pukekohe circuit for several laps during the "demonstration" event on Sunday 12 February 2006.
The ride will occur during the demonstration ride at the Pukekohe Festival. It will NOT be a race. There will be several historic and famous bikes on the circuit for this demonstration ride. The Clerk of the Course will determine the number of laps on the day. This is expected to be between three and five laps depending on time pressure.
The successful bidder will be accompanied by Norman White on a "Yellow-Peril" - a 750cc Production racer. This is a chance to ride a historic 170 mph race bike, prepared and raced by an original member of the "works" John Player Norton team - and the first JPNorton F750 racebike to have ever been to New Zealand.
It's truly a once in a lifetime opportunity.

Conditions of bidding. This motorcycle was recently valued by Sothebys at $200,000, so not surprisingly Norman is keen that only suitably experienced people ride it.
The successful bidder will have to:
- possess a full motorcycle licence and demonstrate proof of their riding ability to the satisfaction of the Norton Racing Team;
- pay the full amount of the bid within one week of their riding ability being confirmed;
- attend the riders' briefing on the day at the Pukekohe festival.
You should not bid if you are unable to fulfill these obligations. If you do bid and win and are unable to fulfill these conditions the Norton Racing Team reserves the right to approach the next highest bidder.
All of the proceeds from this auction go towards the cost of bringing these living Norton legends - Peter Williams and Norman White out to New Zealand for the classic racing at Pukekohe in February 2006.
