McIntosh Suzuki 1980
Description
Many of you already know that this is the first McIntosh Suzuki to be built, but for the younger enthusiasts I'll paraphrase it's history and heritage.
In 1980 Rodger Freeth needed an Open Class bike to ride whilst he waited for his RG500. Ensuing conversations resulted in the migration of a Yoshimura GS1000 Suzuki and a hand built Ken McIntosh frame.
This McIntosh Suzuki 1000, was built in quick time. Testing at Pukekohe for the first time confirmed that within a few sessions the bike was on lap record pace and that this motorcycle was a championship contender.
This bike, ridden by Freeth, won it's first event, the famous Hawkesbury Road Race and ended up winning 12 or 14 races, winning every race it finished.
For the 1980/81 Formula One Season Freeth handed the bike to young gun, Dave Hiscock, who very quickly established his presence at the top level and along with the GS1000 McIntosh Suzuki won the national Formula One title.

This is a piece of NZ motorcyling history and one of the most famous of all NZ made bikes. It is a museum quality restoration, which has taken 5 years and tens of thousands of dollars to complete. Ken McIntosh has been extensively involved in the project and can be contacted if necessary.
It is unlikely this piece of motorcycle history will ever be for sale again. This will be the one and only time you will see it on Trade Me and/or for sale as I am still fully not committed to letting it go.
