H28 - Eclipse

Eclipse is a kauri, carvel-planked yacht, built in 1964 by the well-respected Salthouse boat builders. She is a well built boat that is very sea-kindly. We have sailed her in 50 knot winds and she has handled it beautifully.

We are regretfully selling Eclipse because we are getting on in years and no longer have the energy to put into maintaining and sailing her. The boat itself is still sound, but she needs an extensive cosmetic clean up.

She can still be sailed as is, but she would make a great project for someone with the time and energy to bring her back to her former glory.

All proceeds will be donated to Starship Hospital and payment is to be in the form of a bank cheque made out to Starship which we will then pass on.

People we have spoken to who know of Eclipse say she was “the boat to beat” in her class when she was racing, which was probably helped by extra lead on the keel and extra height in the mast. She is certainly a great boat to sail and can easily be handled by one person.
