Fiat Abarth Replica Project - the Arbonda!

Closed: Sun 6th Jan, 6:17pm

Description

Time to sell one of the projects I was keeping to do one day. This would be a great project for someone wanting to make a replica of my car , or as I was going to do, make an awesome Q-car for the road.

This car started as fully restored rust free suicide-door Fiat 600. It would have made a lovely standard car. The then owner gave it to his teenage son who started to make an Abarth replica but lost interest.

The main thing though, is that the whole rear chassis and floorpan has been replaced with one from a Fiat 850 coupe. This solves one of the main issues with a Fiat600-based car : shortage of transaxles that will fit between the swing arms as there is only 170mm . By going to 850 floorpan, this has different suspension set up and the distance between the swingarms is large enough for ANY transaxle ( eg VW , Porsche, Hewland, reverse-direction Subaru, etc ) or of course a standard Fiat 850 box.

This then means it can be repowered with a much larger engine ! My plan was either to use a Honda B18b VTEC and standard 850 box ( both are counter clockwise) hence ' Arbonda' . Alternatively a Hayabusa would be nice heheheheheh.

To be clear , this is a project , but already has a wishbone front end fitted ( $1500 ) , front nosecone and fender flares ( $800 ) , Performance Minilite 7x13 wheels fitted with new 215/50/13 tyres ( $2000) , rear floorpan laser aligned and tacked ( needs full welding ) , 850 front spindles and drilled discs , 850 rear arms with disc caliper brackets fitted , and so on.

Also included are copies of various Abarth publications, ( including Greg Smidts rare 'how to' booklet) , some new gauges , steering wheels and bibs-n-bobs including a spare 850 coupe suspension and gearbox. There is NO engine or seats.

Make no mistake though, it still requires a lot of work. I am happy to offer any advice as required to new owner.

Feel free to call me for a chat if seriously interested.
