BMW 318i 1988

I've owned this incredible car since September 2007, when I discovered it in Queenstown after around a year of hunting for a solid manual E30 in very good condition. Sadly, the time has come to pass her onto the next loving owner.

This E30 has never missed a beat, and has been carefully driven and has not been modified in any way. This is probably one of very few almost totally original E30 manual coupes left, and in a reasonably rare colour.

This 318i is in great condition for its age. I've had a couple of panels resprayed in its original Zinnoberot, so the paint is currently a solid 9/10. There are a couple of classic E30 (non-structural) corrosion spots around the sunroof.

The car comes with the relatively rare 15" Basketweaves wheels (2 are in very good condition, the others will need a repaint if fussy). Unfortunately, only one centrecap. It also has an alarm and remote unlock.

Likewise, the interior is in good condition. The dash has a few typical E30 cracks, but these are currently hidden by a very tidy dash mat. The driver's seat does have a few tears in the fabric. A replacement passenger seat can be provided. The original E30 stereo will probably need to be replaced, as the LHS speakers have decided to only work intermittently.

Mechanically, this E30 is in very good condition. It has always started first time and has never let me down throughout numerous long trips (to Wellington numerous times). I replaced the radiator with a new one when I purchased it, and have not had any mechanical problems with it during my ownership - probably a testament to simple, but quality, German engineering. It has started to drip a spot of oil in the last year and blows a small puff of smoke when cold, but one of the previous owners confirmed with me that it had since he purchased as an approved used-car from Cooke Howlinson BMW in the mid-90s.

The E30 comes with its original manuals, including the original sales brochure. Regretful sale due to travel commitments.
