Fiat Other X1/9 1978

Update to previous auction. Car failed its warrant 18 December, due to FL shock leaking - no other issues. Have received quote for new replacement of $300 per shock from Fiatparts in Cambridge.

Car has not been certified since engine swap, although falls into grey zone as its the same family of engine and less than 20% power increase.

I bought it from an elderly gent in Cromwell earlier this year who had used it very very little and have since spent over $9000 on her to get it driving and running beautifully.

All work was performed by the very wonderful Mal Simmonds at Fiat parts in Cambridge.

• 1300 motor removed and refurbished 1500 carby X19 motor installed with new belts and lubricants.
• 4sp box removed and replaced with 5sp version.
• Axles and hubs replaced.
• Rear shocks replaced with new OEM fittings, fronts re-gassed and refurbished.
• All brakes refurbished including handbrake.
• Heater tap replaced. Blows nice and warm.
• New headlight relays and right lamp replaced.
• Genuine Abarth Cromodora Magnesium CD30 wheels installed.
• 1980 X19 Seats installed.
• New Fiat / bertone / X19 badging.

Plus many other little bits and bobs.

There are a few issues that will need to be addressed for this to be a minter.

• Speedo cable has come loose a few weeks ago - Will be $50 to $300 to fix depending on difficulty to remove.
• Front lip spoiler was missing when I bought it, but car is so low, its barely noticeable ($250 shipped from USA)
• Left Hand interior door card has a gouge where the window winder has marked it.
• Rubber trim around cabin is beginning to perish. It is still water proof, but will need replacing within 5 years.

This car really is a wonderful little beast but Its time to move on. I have the Haynes manual and official workshop manual for tinkering, plus I hugely recommend getting in touch with Mal at Fiatparts.co.nz as he knows this car inside out.
