Fiat Other 128 Sport 1974
Description
For sale is my rare 1974 Fiat 128 Sport L.
I have not seen another of these in New Zealand while I have owned this car.
This car has been well maintained and is in good mechanical condition. It has been my daily runner for the past 6 months. It runs very smoothly, starts well with plenty of choke, burns no oil, water levels are steady, and blows no smoke, idles really smoothly, and factory alloys all in good condition.
It is not in concours condition but in good condition for it's age, with some sun damage to exterior paint and interior vinyl. See photos. 2 small rust bubbles in lower passenger door. The interior is completely original, carpets are a little rough, seats and head linings are in excellent order. I have removed car seat covers in these photos.
The car runs brilliantly, though helps to be in a bad mood or at least thinking like an Italian when you get in.
Through town at 50km/h you need to be in 3rd at 3000 rpm. At 100km/h she is doing 4500rpm and really singing. The car has an awesome exhaust note and is a real head turner.
Recent work includes front control arm bushes, new clutch cable, new driver side retracting seat belt, new exhaust from Y joint to tail pipe, new points, rust removal from drivers door and rear window surround, rear brake recon. Odo is at 29000 miles. These are not original miles. Most likely 129000 miles.
All the work has been done at Vaughan Motors in Timaru.
You will notice in rev counter photo that the Gen light is on. Just happened, have been to auto electrician who says is likely voltage regulator. Will be fixed early next week.
Update: Car is at Auto electricians currently, They reconditioning the alternator also so will be sorted before auction close. Means you have to add another $500 to you bidding ;-)
Back from electricians today, stripped alternator and done bearings, rectifier. Also put in new voltage regulator so all good as new. As predicted cost $579!!!
