Description

A very rare opportunity to own what I believe is New Zealands only complete Fiat 850T Amigo Camper.

It's travelled only 48'000km (approx) from new, and pretty much all of that has been done by myself and the original owner.

While it's very rare in NZ we did have loads of 850 Sport's which are mechanically the same, making parts available easy and cheap ex NZ. Body panels including rust repair panels are available very reasonable ex overseas.

Mechanically it's in excellent original condition as is the interior (making it an even rarer find, even internationally). The body is very straight but I suspect the original owner stored it in a carport with one side exposed. It has some rust in one side and at the rear quarters. Sills are in great shape, as is the floor etc.

The registration has been on hold for some years. I would expect it to need some rust repairs and an overhaul of the brakes for a WOF, but it's anybody's guess. I expect it should start and run with a new battery without much effort. I last had it running/driving about 4 years ago.

It would be a very easy restoration project for someone given it's really just some rust repairs to get it very tidy.

I have motored it around both North and South Islands and found it very reliable and surprisingly practical and capable. It easily keeps up with open road traffic in most conditions with power left for passing. It's only very large hills and mountain ranges that will have you dropping off the pace. It's exceptionally good on fuel as you would expect. I used it as my every day driver for a period.

Being an Amigo camper it has a cleverly designed double bed that takes up all of the downstairs and two bunks in the fold out roof. It has water, sink, cook top, small oven and loads of storage. You can seat 8 in a pinch over 3 rows of seating (bed becomes rear seats). Bed is very comfortable/practical.

If there is no interest above the reserve I may put a Wof/Reg on it and re-list for 20K +. Viewing highly recommended. Keywords: VW Kombi
