This Honda Civic Vti-R was one of 70 brought into NZ, new, by the franchisor.

The official colour is Dark Amethyst Pearl, which is a royal blue metallic. At initial registration someone decided amethyst was purple and this is the colour on the rego papers.

The interior fabric has a Australiasian design, Ok, but not to every ones taste. The front seats give good support when pushing on and are more user friendly than the R imports, which have recaros with high bolsters.

Low owners, I think 3 or 4.

The 117 Kw 1.6 litre DOHC VTEC motor is a wee beauty. The car behaves nicely in heavy stop/start traffic and is docile with light throttle. Drop it down a cog and let the revs rise to 4000 and it comes alive with some punch and continues to sing up to the high octaves of 8200 revs.

The factory up-rated front suspension gives the car a dynamic feel with great point in to the corners and handles the extra power well. This means the turning circle is diminished, a small trade off for giving you a smile on your face.

If you want a sleeper, just take the decals off and enjoy the driving without the attention.

Or you can juice it up with all the after market goodies that are readily available with this good car with young Kms.

The car has spent 99% of its life in the sedate mode and only the occasional squirt to blow any cobwebs away.

This not the Type R that came out in late 1997, but the VtiR that was made 1995-1998 with the a type motor
