Jaguar E Type 4.2 Series 1 1967
Description
1967 2+2 4.2 Series 1 - FHC, manual with chrome knock-ons. Sounds amazing, looks stunning - smells good too. As is; 95k MILES. Will be sold with new WoF and Reg until 2015.
Change of circumstance forces sale - please see my other auctions. I have owned this beautiful car for a couple of years, the previous owner since 1993!
I have invested thousands on a replacement gearbox built by SNG Barratt in New Hampshire and shipped from the US, clutch and hydraulics have been rebuilt, front brakes overhauled, a new OEM windscreen and removal of a wee bit of tinworm from the toe pans (properly photographed and documented). All work professionally done, the mechanic is a very experienced Jaguar expert who worked for many years at Archer and Lupp, He has very high standards and replaces any seal, bush, rubber part, etc, that is showing any sign of ageing.
The motor starts immediately and runs well. Leather interior appears to be original condition with no rips or tears. The original handbook is mint, complete tool kit, jack etc. Only nods to modernity are central locking and a new '60's look' radio that plays CD and SD Cards.
Paint is not perfect and represents the opportunity for the next owner to get into the car at a lower than market price – but only an expert eye can pick slight colour variations that are the result of years of minor touch-ups. No major resto or big bashes, just decades of wear and tear from everyday usage. The doors need adjusting and the draft excluders don't fully exclude, but its honest and all the flaws are there to be seen.
The heavy lifting’s done and its now mainly cosmetics; titivating while enjoying a very fast vintage car. It gets lots of positive attention, admiring comments, waves and smiles. It flew over the Rimutakas last month with no sign of overheating of either engine or brakes - and that LSD is very necessary. The 2+2 is a truly practical choice, jump in and drive her anywhere.
