Jaguar Series 1 XJ12 1973

Here is an opportunity to buy a piece of motoring history for the driving connoisseur who appreciates a serious driving machine. In many ways this is a very unique car, one of only 783 SWB cars produced world-wide (only 50 came to NZ). This Jag is even more-so unique fitted with a few factory vandenplas exterior fittings and painted in a rare factory optional signal red. I am selling the car as I have a new posting in the UK. I have owned this car for almost 20 years during which it has always been garaged, cherished and only driven on special occasions (like our wedding). I am an absolute perfectionist. Over the 20 years I have spent a large amount of money restoring the car using only the very best original parts, sparing no expense (e.g. koni adjustable shocks and Pirelli tyres). I have documented all repairs, kept all receipts and rebuild almost every component. This includes a full engine rebuild (30k ago) by a qualified Jaguar mechanic. The interior has been restored, with the wood veneer lacquered and polished by an experienced car upholster, all instruments recalibrated, the leather re-coloured and all trim replaced to original specification.
Looking over the long curveous bonnet and the leaping cat, it commands a superior driving experience that attacts attention. The V-12 engine is a piece of motoring icon that provides an exhilarating driving experience with a top speed of 245km/h and acceleration of 7.4 sec to 100km/h. The engine is turbine like smooth and an absolute pleasure to drive. The engine is spotless clean and impressive to view, attracting attention at car shows. This car provided Jaguar founder Sir William Lyons with ultimate accolades, including 'best car in the world'. It is reasonably priced however, if the car does not sell by 25 June I will happily ship it back to its country of birth and keep it.
