Mercedes-Benz 230s 1965
Description
A rare classic 1965 Mercedes-Benz 230s Heckflosse (Fintail) (W111.010).
Originally owned by the German Embassy in Wellington, with the diplomatic flag holder still visible on the front bumper. From what I understand it was then sold to an owner in the central North Island who had it repainted then put into storage for 20 years before it was sold to the person I brought it off 3-4 years ago.
Runs beautifully, a pleasure to drive, and it flew through its warrant of fitness last month.
This car is a real head turner with the rounded front end, long sleek body, and the subtle yet eye-catching rear fins.
Key features:
- 5-speed floor mounted stick shift.
- 120hp, 2300cc engine.
- 53,385 miles (unsure if the odometer has been around before).
- Red M-Tex seats (a few markings on it but no rips or tears) with recently replaced red carpet.
- Wooden internal trim.
- Unique vertical speedometer with all gauges in perfect working order.
- CD Player (sadly it came without the original radio) with subwoofer and amp in the boot.
- Original numberplates are included.
Some rust is starting to bubble under the paint around the bottom corners of some of the doors, on the front fenders and bonnet - nothing structural. I had intended to get it repainted sometime in the near future which would have addressed these issues.
While it is not perfectly tidy, it is in a very good condition for its age.
Sad to see her go, but my situation has changed and I no longer have the necessary time to dedicate to it. I am hoping that someone else has the time and inclination to continue the work that I have started.
Viewing is only possible at the weekend in the Waitakere Ranges. Please contact me to arrange a time.
