Berkeley B95 1960
Description
If you thought the Berkeley that was recently on Trade Me was rare then this Berkeley is even rarer
The only known B95 in NZ. Imported by the previous owner from the UK in the mid 90s. Whilst the earlier Berkeleys have small 2 stroke motors this model has a 700cc Royal Enfield twin cylinder motorcycle engine giving sparkling performance in this tiny car.
The previous owner was unfortunately a bit of a 'fiddler' and has made a few changes from original, some good some not so good! The hard top is a copy of the factory type but he then fitted external door locks and a fixed frame around the windows and electric windows! I do have one of the original side screen and the doors could easily be returned to standard
He also tried to convert the front suspension and steering to Mini axles and brakes. This was done and actually certified but I don't think it works very well. This conversion was based on work done in the UK in the period. I have sourced most of the original parts to convert this back to standard.
I have had the engine running briefly when I purchased the car and have no reason to think that with fresh fuel and a battery it wouldn't still go.
I have all 4 hubcaps and the soft top and frame
The best thing is the rego is on HOLD
