Description
2008 NEW unused ZAP Xebra Electric Ute
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ZAP_Xebra
72V 5kW DC motor driving the rear wheels through a transaxle, 300A electronic speed controller, 30A DC -DC converter and 72V 12A automatic battery charger. Uses Suzuki Alto car wheels, bearings, axles, CV joints and disc brakes. Tilt tray is 1.4m x 1.3m. No Batteries, a new set of 6 Trojan lead batteries costs $1900, giving a range of up to 30km @ 50 km/h.
On the road in the USA as Trikes, but the NZTA said their max weight is too high to be registered here as a Trike, has to be a Light Truck. But as it was built to Trike standards, it can't be registered as a Light Truck. We applied for an exemption under section 166 of the Land Transport Act to lower the max weight, so it could be registered as a Trike but they refused, even though it was built as a Trike. Still much safer than those flimsy Tuk Tuks allowed on our roads!
