1935 Hupmobile Model D8659 Registration expired 1973 Number Plate BL7572 WOF expired 1970 About thirty years ago this much loved great old car was backed into the garage, the doors locked by its proud owner who was no longer able to drive it. The Hup is in original condition having only 86,762 miles on the clock, but has not been started for years. Prior to 1971 it was used as a family car, although it never went much further than the North Shore suburbs and Auckland city surrounds. Sadly while in storage a hole in the garage roof has resulted in some water damage to the rear of the car, with a little surface rust evident around the rear guards and the bottom of the rear Left door which requires repair. The back seat was removed from the car, but was stored right under the leak and as a result will need to be completely reupholstered. Undercoat had been painted on some areas in preparation for repainting well before the rust occurred. Recently the Hup has been transported from Auckland and RIPO has been applied to all visible signs of rust to prevent any further deterioration. Apart from this damage, the car is “all there” and the family is looking for a new owner to lend a new lease of life to this four door straight six sedan and restore it to its former glory.
