Toyota Land Cruiser HJ45 1980

I have decided its time for someone else to adopt my ol girl. I found this cruiser sitting on trade me a while ago in a state of neglect and in need of a bit of love. so I took it in and spend a fair bit of time and money on it to get it up to spec for the road again. Fitted up a new set of wheels and some 33inch tyres. the brakes were in a sad state and were beyond me so i took it to the shop and the pros worked their magic on them and you sure can tell. i spent a lot of time on the deck and sides.now you can get a good load of firewood on there. there's new shocks underneath too. i fitted a 10000 pound warn winch onto it too in the unlikely even you'd get this old 40 series stuck. the only thing id like to have done is to fit power steering , but that'd need a cert so ive stuck with the original strong arm steering. Luxury this is not , but a cool wagon for the weekends it sure is, and gets a lot of looks. Being an old diesel it does smoke like a chimney when you fire her up in the morning but runs well and the exhaust is clean when its warm. I've been on a couple of decent trips in the old cruiser , Nelson one weekend and We took this away last summer to Macetown and it never missed a beat. also drank a fraction of the fuel an FJ45 or FJ40 would have. there's a five speed gearbox that will come with it but i haven't had the time to install that. and its got a wee air compressor and tank under the bonett ... and some nice traffic suggestion horns hooked up to the air tank. it'll be sad to see the ute go , but its time for someone else to enjoy this ol classic old land cruiser.
