Financial Accountant

About the role:

Reporting to the Accounting Manager you will be responsible for:

• Preparation and posting of month end journals (Leave/Salary accruals, insurance, FBT etc)
• Preparation of monthly GL reconciliations
• Monthly lease accounting journals and lease reconciliations
• Preparation of Income Tax, GST and FBT returns
• Preparation of the year-end financial statements
• Assisting with year-end audit requirements
• Assist with accounting and tax technical matters
• Other process improvement projects

About you:

Ideally you will have at least 3+ years' relevant experiences and will have:

• Chartered Accountant qualification or equivalent
• Experience with utilities or similar complex organisation
• Knowledge of NZ IFRS
• Big 4 qualified preferred
• Knowledge of NZ taxation including GST, FBT, Income tax and Taxlab software
• Intermediate to advance knowledge of MS Excel

Good verbal and written communication skills would be essential along with the ability to multi-task and deliver to deadlines. Attention to detail is a must along with a continuous improvements mindset. Experience with JDE or other equivalent ERP system will be an advantage.
