Refrigerated Couriers, a small, family-owned transport business, is looking for a Business and Finance Manager to join our leadership team and guide us through our next phase of sustainable growth.

About the Role
As Business and Finance Manager, you will be responsible for the full financial function of the business - from day-to-day accounting tasks and data entry, to managing budgets, cash flow, contracts, and strategic planning. You'll also oversee financial compliance, help manage contractor relationships, and contribute directly to operational decisions that affect the future of the company.

Key Responsibilities:
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, cash flow management, and reporting
- Perform day-to-day finance tasks such as data entry, bank reconciliations, invoicing, and payroll
- Negotiate and manage customer contracts to ensure commercial value and compliance
- Monitor independent contractor performance and support operational reviews
- Ensure ongoing compliance with NZ health and safety regulations
- Provide financial insights and advice to the Directors and leadership team
- Manage external audits, tax obligations, and liaise with external accountants
- Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements
- Foster a culture of financial accountability and integrity within the business
What You'll Bring:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CA/CPA or MBA preferred)
- Proven experience in a senior finance role (CFO, Finance Manager, or similar), ideally in transport, logistics, or services
- Strong working knowledge of NZ financial regulations, tax, and compliance
- Comfortable with both strategic planning and day-to-day finance tasks
- Experience working with or managing independent contractors
- Excellent attention to detail and strong data entry skills
- High-level communication and negotiation skills
- A practical, self-motivated attitude with a collaborative mindset
- Familiarity with Xero or other accounting software preferred
