  • Rewarding opportunity in a small family owned business

At Trident, we're specialists in vehicle modifications and mobility lift refurbishments and installations across Northland. Our work includes everything from custom drive-from vehicle conversions and hand control systems to wheelchair hoists and cargo van fit-outs.

We are proud to support individuals of all ages and abilities by delivering expert, safety-compliant solutions that enhance freedom and independence. Our team is known for reliable workmanship, practical problem-solving, and a strong focus on customer care - whether we're modifying a vehicle, installing a access lift, or maintaining essential mobility equipment.

We are currently looking for a Workshop Engineer / Technician to join our team in Whangarei.

If you're looking for more than just a job - a place to grow, be appreciated, and take pride in your skills - Trident is the right fit. We are looking for a practical, hands-on person with a problem-solving mindset - someone who takes pride in doing the job right and helping people live more independently. You might come from a background in automotive, mechanical, electrical, engineering, mobility equipment, or general trades.

You'll be responsible for completing modifications / service / repairs of vehicles, powerchair, manual wheelchairs, hoist, hospital beds, commodes, air mattresses and more in the workshop and / or out on the road in the field.

You'll need:

  • Strong mechanical, electrical, or engineering aptitude (hands-on trade background ideal)
  • Full NZ Driver's Licence (required)
  • Good understanding of health & safety practices and able to work calmly under pressure
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a small, dedicated team
  • Comfortable interacting with clients in homes, healthcare settings, and workshop environments
  • Physically capable of manual handling and using tools and testing equipment
  • Attention to detail for documentation, safety checks, and compliance standards
  • Reliable, with a strong work ethic
  • Flexible with a can do attitude and a team approach
  • Industry qualifications (e.g. electrical, mechanical, panel beating, or fabrication) are a strong advantage, but relevant skills and experience in these areas will also be considered

At Trident, a small family business, we truly value our team and go the extra mile to create a supportive, rewarding work environment. When you join us, you'll benefit from:

  • Flexible working hours to help you balance life and work
  • Access to a company vehicle if and while working on the road
  • Ongoing training and career progression opportunities in a specialised field
  • Meaningful work assisting the disability sector in the Northland community - making a real difference every day
  • Onsite parking is available

This is a full time permanent opportunity, 40 hours per week, Monday - Friday.

Having the right attitude is just as important as experience - if you're the sort of person who enjoys solving practical challenges and making a real difference in people's lives - we'd love to hear from you. APPLY NOW with an up to date CV and Cover Letter.

Please note: due to the nature of our work, the successful candidate will need to pass a Police background check as we work with vulnerable clients.
