About the Role
The physiotherapist will work as part of the CDS physiotherapy team, in profession specific assessment and intervention and as part of the multidisciplinary team.
CDS operates over three sites (Kenepuru, Puketiro and Te Wao Nui) with clinics also offered in Kapiti. All clinicians must be able to work over all three sites if requested to do so. Work is within clinics and in community settings, such as homes and education facilities.
The role requires comprehensive physiotherapy neurodevelopmental, neurological and musculoskeletal assessment and intervention skills working with 0 - 16 year old children with long term conditions and disabilities.
About the Team/Service Location
The Child Development Service (CDS) is a multidisciplinary team providing specialist developmental assessment and interventions using a holistic approach to enable children with disabilities and or developmental delays to reach their maximum potential within their families and extended environment.
About you
- Minimum of 3 years clinical practice, including recent paediatric experience in the child development area.
- Sound knowledge and assessment skills of the neurodevelopmental norms, and ages and stages of development, from 0 - 16 years.
- Comprehensive neurological and musculoskeletal assessment skills.
- Skilled in assessing the impact of premature birth, congenital or acquired conditions, and long term illness or injury, in the context of this knowledge.
- Skilled in assessing gross and fine motor skills and physical function across the age range from 0 - 16 years
- Skilled in using play to facilitate movement, activity and participation
