Position Description - Lodge Assistant Manager

Purpose
As Lodge Assistant Manager, you'll support the Lodge Manager, ensure smooth lodge operations, and step into their role when they are absent and when needed. Primarily, you'll perform Lodge Attendant duties, delivering high-quality hospitality and housekeeping while supporting a collaborative team. The role is full-time from early October 2025 until mid April 2026.
Key responsibilities
- Housekeeping & Hospitality: Provide exceptional guest service, perform cleaning, laundry, and kitchen tasks, and adhere to Food Control Plan.
- Leadership: Assist with staff training, rosters, and feedback; lead operations in Manager's absence, maintaining high standards.
- Health & Safety: Follow Safety Management System, report hazards, ensure equipment safety, and oversee compliance in Manager's absence.
- Additional Duties: Work flexible hours, assist with maintenance, and occasionally accompany guests on "turnback" walks.
Location
The role is based at one of the remote lodges on the Milford or Routeburn Tracks where you will work and live for up to five weeks at a time. These lodges, with the exception of Mitre Peak Lodge, are inaccessible by road.
