Position Description

KiwiRail is dedicated to delivering a safe and reliable rail network for New Zealand. Our NDT Inspectors play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of rail infrastructure, using advanced testing methods to detect and assess potential risks.
He whakamārama mō te tūranga mahi | About the role
As an NDT Inspector, you’ll lead rail track inspections, oversee NDT operations, and ensure compliance with safety and maintenance standards. Your key responsibilities include:
- Conducting and verifying Non-Destructive Testing procedures
- Analysing test results and providing expert recommendations
- Ensuring compliance with KiwiRail safety and maintenance standards
- Training and mentoring junior NDT Operators
- Collaborating with engineering teams to develop maintenance solutions
Ngā pukenga e rapu nei mātou | What you will bring
The ideal candidate will have:
- Recognised qualifications in Non-Destructive Testing (UT, ET, or equivalent)
- Extensive experience in rail infrastructure inspection and testing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities
- Hold a class 1 driver’s licence, with a class 2 licence preferred
- A willingness to travel when needed
- Physical fitness and the ability to work in all weather conditions
