Transport Supervisor & Dispatcher

Stuart Drummond Transport is seeking a Transport Supervisor and Dispatcher to join our high-performing team based in Nelson. This is a pivotal role in our daily operations, coordinating a large fleet working across the forestry sector throughout the top of the South Island. Working closely with the Operations Manager, you’ll ensure customer delivery requirements are met efficiently while optimising fleet utilisation.

About the Role As Transport Supervisor and Dispatcher, you will be the key link between our drivers, customers, and operations team. Your role will involve planning and scheduling truck movements, making real-time decisions, and maintaining strong communication with stakeholders across the forestry supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

• Schedule and coordinate daily truck movements to meet delivery requirements
• Monitor fleet performance and minimise downtime
• Liaise with forest owners, port companies, logging crews, and other stakeholders
• Ensure compliance with health & safety and transport regulations
• Support drivers with route planning and job allocation using Trimble WSX
• Maintain accurate dispatch and performance data in our systems
• Drive continuous improvement using tools such as Power BI

What We’re Looking For

• Experience in log transport or the wider forestry industry
• Ideally, prior experience working in the forestry industry
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Confidence making decisions in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and transport/logistics systems (e.g. Trimble)
• Full NZ Class 1 licence (Class 5 preferred)
