-=< Anti Vibration Gasket for T5 shifter >=-

Up until you get this product you will notice some increased gear noise getting into the cabin from the gearbox if you've put a billet shifter onto the old T5 pushing your car around. When you install any new shifter plate or re-assemble gearboxes or whatever, you probably put a bead of gasket making silicon or RTV or what-have-you before bolting it home...

This bead of gunk then gets compressed as you tighten the bits up and creates a seal to stop oil flowing all over your lovely clean gearbox...

However, it does nothing to insulate the shifter from the heat, vibration and noise of the gears smashing into each other just a few inches away.

Depending on your shifter knob and a whole heap of other things, you can get some dramatic and at times, quite frankly, worrying noises from the shifter department.

99% of the time these noises are just vibrations in the shifter and gear knob assembly, which could be diminished by installing this HIGH TEMPERATURE SILICON GASKET which is cut to the exact dimensions of the top of your T5.

You don't even need to use a bead of gunk any more --- Scrape off any gunk you have already put on the two contact surfaces really well and clamp the shifter back to the gearbox with this silicon gasket in place. It'll compress slightly, but will provide a nice barrier against excessive vibrations and therefore get rid of a percentage of noise from your cabin.

I'd like to suggest it would help prolong gear and synchro life too, but this would be pushing it and some dickhead would probably just ring "Fair Go" or some other consumer rights programme.
