Here is a gold claim that has all the paperwork ready to walk onto and start suction dredge mining with a solid proven resource. The best dredging claim in Otago.

This claim is on the Nevis River and comprises over 39 hectares of riverbed over 19 kilometres of the valley. While it is hard work, it is not unusual to take 2-3oz a day out of the river- especially so given there is huge portions of virgin and highly productive areas. I know of 13oz taken out of a gravel beach in one day! (not by me unfortunately)

Consents from the Otago Regional Council allow the operation of a 5inch dredge over the lower 14km (outside trout spawning periods) and then the use on an 8inch dredge all year round. This is probably the most relaxed consent regarding spawning conditions in the country.

A Mining Permit is held for the claim, authorising the use of an 8inch dredge. This has the automatic right to extend the term and is not vulnerable to non-renewal with respect to the Crown Mineral regulations review currently in progress.

The claim also includes:

An access agreement from LINZ to mine the river. A dispensation from the LINZ Pastoral Unit to access land to get to the river. An exemption from DoC to cross the marginal strip for a commercial operation. Written approvals from Department of Conservation, Fish & Game, Historic Places Trust, Central Otago District Council and local Iwi. An access agreement is held for the life of the MP with the local landowner.
