1997 Suzuki XF650 Freewind

Regretfully selling my road / gravel bike. The XF650 uses the DR650 engine which is factory up-graded with bigger valves, twin carbs, an 18.5 L tank, alloy bash plate, fork brace and a much more comfy seat. Lams approved.

NZ new & always garaged - no rust! Fresh WOF & 3 month Rego. Colour is more blue than purple, depending on camera.

This bike has reliably taken me over most of NZ via a mix of tar & gravel routes, incl many KB Adv rides & even some Dusty Butts. The load carrying ability has been great for lugging camping gear on the SI Rally circuit and heated grips were fitted for its many trips to Brass Monkey.

The bike proudly shows a few scratches so inspection is recommended, incl some saddle bag rub marks on the side covers and boot rub marks on engine cases. I eventually removed the tank shrouds and these are included with their fastener kits (see ride pic of when they were fitted with high screen).

Mechanically the bike is running great, with new battery, fresh oil & filter, recent wheel bearings, good 14 / 43 sprockets & gold chain. Wheels are shod with Mitas EO9’s – the front relatively new but the rear only good for another 1000km km’s (depending how ya ride). In my ownership I have had swing arm slider & base gasket changed, had some cogs in gearbox replaced (receipts included) & changed steering head bearings. Oil & filters always changed regularly.

Bike comes with factory hand guards, centre stand, handbook, toolkit & workshop manual. Extras include spare clutch & brake levers, extra low & high screens, a 36L Givi top box and magnetic sump bung. Wirtz bars with risers are fitted (better for standing), while the standard bars & mount kit are also included.

For off road / knarlier rides, it is simple to fit a DR650 21” front wheel. Included in listing is 21” front fender & mount kit to suit. See my other listings for DR650 wheel set.
