This is an extremely rare "ROGER" made about 1959- 1960 by Wenzel Rossmeis at the Mittenwald workshop from the period in Neumarkt-St.Veit, though they used the old labels from Mittenwald..He signed them personally, and had control with everything. The Roger guitar was crafted from the late 1950s until 1962 by Wenzel Rossmeisl, a German jazz guitarist and luthier. Rossmeisl named this guitar after his son, Roger Rossmeisl, who would follow in his father's footsteps as an outstanding luthier. Both men graduated from the Mittenwald School with Roger earning a Master's level degree. Even the casual observer will be captivated by the unique design and beautiful finish of this instrument.

The top and back is not pressed but carved . solid spruce on top and solid maple on back . The outcome is known as the "german carve" and was invented by wenzel and Roger Rossmeisl. Wenzel was the father and Roger the son. Roger later went to USA and became chief designer for several companies. He started at Gibson but they did not get along and he continued at mosrite, rickenbacker,guild and fender. he designed most of the fender acoustics - tele thinline included. you may notice that the f-soundhole is the same. here is a link to one of the most famous of them. I rescued this guitar many years ago, it has had a fairly hard life until I bought it. Some idiot has made a small hole in the neck near the body, there are some marks on the edge near the back and a few other marks here and there.

The guitar is quite heavy (all solid maple and spruce) Only about 3000 of these type guitars were ever made, probably not another one in New Zealand. There was a crack on the front which I have had fixed. It has Grover machine heads. If anyone wants a stunning guitar . Beautiful. You wont find another for sale anywhere, I've looked.
