Description
Suffered an LPG explosion 10/3/10 while on the hardstand in Opua, Northland. Currently for Tender on behalf of the Insurance Company. There is damage from the explosion to the interior and cabin tops but only minor fire damage.
Originally designed by Naval Architect Frederick Parker for extended offshore cruising, built by the Teignmouth Boat Co, Devon, UK in 1975 to Lloyds 100+A1 Standard. Sailed extensively overseas between NZ & the U.K up to 2002 and used for coastal cruising since then.
LOD - 42' 6" (13 metres) Beam - 12' 9" (3.9 metres) Draft - 6' (1.8m) Berths 4-6
Centre Cockpit layout
Construction - Hull - Double Skin Timber Planking, Outer Skin - African Iroko Hardwood, Inner Skin - Mahogany. Both skins are fastened with both copper rivets and resorcinol glue.
Deck & Cabin Tops are Plywood over Iroko beams which has been fibreglassed over
Ketch Rigged with Kemp aluminium spars
- Masts appear to be undamaged by the explosion.
- 1 Boom is damaged Stainless Rigging replaced approx 3 yrs ago.
- Rigging appears to be mostly undamaged by the accident. Reefrite Furling Headsail, replaced approx 4 yrs ago.
- Appears to be undamaged. There are a selection of sails of various ages most appear to be undamaged by the accident Engine - Perkins 4-108, 49HP, 4 Cylinder Diesel reported to have done about 100 Hrs running since a rebuild in 2003.
- There does not appear to be any major damage to the engine but it has not been run since the accident.
