Antique Dutch or South African 'Kist' Meaning Chest or Blanket Box. Stunning. Heavy brass hardware and escutcheons. The two visible brass hingers on the top are purely decorative.
Unusual, fluted front and end panels. Timber is unknown but perhaps a mahogany or fruitwood.
History as relayed from our very generous donor. The item is circa. 60+ years of age having belonged to her grandmother and is either Dutch or South African in origin.
Complete with original key the quality and overall condition belies its age.
Due to the size and weight of this piece the buyer must pick up or arrange collection.
