A rather neat original, probably NZ painting, that is signed, Chas Young - (Charles Young) known artist, and is an Antique artwork of A Yacht In The Bay. Apparently Chas Young paintings cover 1880s to 1918- as per photos. (camera flashes can lighten up or change its looks, so if exact colours & shades are important to you do not bid or buy)

Differing sources have him as an Australian & a New Zealander, but they all agree he painted in both countries. So this is probably a New Zealand scene. Dates of his work vary as well, but seems finished by 1918.

This is an original artwork & I think the art work is quite well done. It is not dated. It does look good. Looks to be an oil because it looks quite textured, but could be wrong, could be an acrylic, so sold as is whatever it is. (but I do think it is an oil) Looks to have paint crazing and cracking but to me it is all quite livable. May be odd little marks or spots, general wear & tear etc, but it is basically fine. The card surround has marks etc and a bit wavey but still ok. Glass could do with a clean. It is glassed & appears to be done on Student academy Board - canvas board ? The frame is retro, it is a light frame but seems ok enough to just hang there. The frame has marks, scrapes, chips, wear & tear etc.

There are many photos to give a good indication of condition, so have a look at all the photos to help you make up your own mind regards its condition, use or interest to you.

The frame measures approx 405mm odd x 315mm odd, inside the frame is approx 370mm odd x 280mm odd & what you can actually see of the artwork itself is approx 280mm odd x 210mm odd.

A good collectable, probably NZ piece for the right person or place.
