'The story of Jack Connolly. From his early childhood at Castlepoint Station to his time as a prison guard at the Japanese prisoner of war camp, established three miles north of Featherston, 1942. Focus's on the riot in February 1943 which resulted in the death of 48 prisoners. About his relationship with a young Japanese naval lieutenant named Kaito Murasami that may have saved the lives of 235 prisoners and prevented the rivers Ruamahanga, Waiohine and Waingawa turning red. About two World Wars, a game of rugby, a racehorse and a rooster.'
