An etching is of Ronen Cathedral.
Paul Mansard's etchings are included in the permanent WWI art collection of the Imperial War Museums, England (IWM). Mansard, who along with other notable artists like Marcel Augis (AKA Henri Dupont), were known to record in drawings, pictures & aquatint etchings, the progress of the war throughout Belgium and France. “His beautiful and at times disturbing pictures document the loss and devastation caused by the war. They were a response to events and had widespread appeal. The illustrations were the equivalent of modern-day photojournalism. They recorded what had been lost; the destruction wrought on the landscape with its farms, churches and great civic monuments, and places which had a special significance to those caught up in the conflict.”
Etchings are in Excellent Rare+ condition for its antique age with great detail, color, tones & rich blacks. Picture frame size 37 x 30 cm.
