Description
Fuchsia excorticata Kotukutuku Tree Fuschia NZ Native
50 SEEDS
Height 14m ATTRACTS BIRDS BEE FORAGE DROUGHT RESISTANT FROST RESISTANT SALT RESISTANT
This native New Zealand tree can be recognised by its red papery outer bark and its twisted form. Flowering red/purple in spring the Kotukutuku is the world's largest Fuchsia! It is common throughout NZ from sea level to 1000m. The edible fleshy Konini fruit from January to March is sweet and tasty. It was made into jams and desserts by early settlers.
Recommended pre germination seed treatment: Seed germinates without pre treatment. 4 weeks cold stratification will help speed up and even out germination time.
