Description

+++MAKE AN OFFER I WANT THIS BIKE GONE+++

Behold the world's most honest bike ad.

This thing is what you get when some factory manager in Guangzhou or wherever decides "OK, today we make fixies" despite never having ridden or even seen a fixed gear bike.

It's all steel including the forks (which are simply steel painted black to look like carbon). It weighs in at 10kg which for a fixie is absurd. No branding or any markings on it anywhere.

Chainring and sproket are stamped out of some nasty steel plate material. The chainring is powdercoated (!) black with a nice orangepeel finish and the rear sproket simply left as bare metal.

It has a flipflop hub with a well and truly rusty sproket, so you can turn it into a single speed if you want. But actually you can't, because either the internal springs or freewheel pawls are broken, so this sproket simply spins in either direction.

It's drilled for brakes front and rear so you can mount brakes if that's your thing. However if you look at the rear brake mount you'll see that this was welded on by someone who had no concept of level, or symmetry, or equal triangles, or indeed bugger all else.

It came with the awful flat bar thing and I put on those steel track bars* which make it handle marginally better. It was suicidal before that.

What colour is it? Sort of orange? Sort of pink? Get your girlfriend to tell you because I certainly can't.

My guess is that frame is about 54 cm but with geometry like this who the hell would know? I'm 5'6'' and it just barely fits me, probably better suited to someone 5'8" to 6'0".

In short this bike is comically bad. BUT:

  1. It does have horizontal rear dropouts. So you could chuck out literally everything else and build something from the frame up.
  2. Despite me taking the piss, it's actually not a bad cheap bike for a young person to mess about on and get a feel for fixed gear riding.
